The Chino Valley Water Resource Department is currently in the process of developing a comprehensive drought response plan. This plan will develop staged drought levels based on climate conditions, local groundwater levels, and the relationship between water demand and production capacity.
The plan will link the current drought level to specific water conservation measures designed to minimize drought impact on the economic and social well-being of the community.
Drought is inevitable in Arizona, but water shortages are not. Communities can reduce their vulnerability to the socioeconomic impacts of drought through proper planning, preparedness and mitigation.
